I am using Internet Explorer and the card borders are black and very
distracting. Can I make them another color? My custom message, title or verse is cut off or incomplete on
the final version? Suggestions for Printing the Custom Awards
Q: I am using Internet Explorer and the card borders are black and very distracting. Can I make them another color? A: The card borders cannot be customized but they should print out as a very light gray color. If you are using Internet Explorer and your card borders are black then the is an option setting you can change so that the card borders print out in a lighter color. Just follow these instructions:
Q: I am using Netscape and when I preview the images and titles they appear upside down. A: Netscape does not support the programming that we use to rotate the
images for previewing them. Not to worry, the images will appear correctly
on the finished card. Q: The line breaks that I used when I typed my message do not appear on the completed card? Note that any line breaks or double spacing in the message input box will be ignored when the card is created. The text will appear as one long string of text wrapped to fit in the card. Please do not use double quotes in your message as this character confuses the program and will cause the rest of your message to be ignored. Instead, you may insert line breaks or double quotation marks by embedding these special codes in your message:
Q: The background color I have chosen for my bookmark never comes out. It is always white. What is wrong? Most browser have a setting that will allow you to turn off the printing of background colors or images and by default this setting is turned off. If you enable it your background colors will print. Here are some instructions to enable your browser to print background colors:In Netscape 4.xx:
In Explorer:
Q: I have a Lexmark printer and some of the images will not print even though I can see them on the screen. Why is this? I don't know the technical reasons for this but it has to do with the settings in your printer software. Basically, if you want to print in BLACK and WHITE you need to "tell" (set) the printer to print only B/W -- if set on automatic it prints a blank page or doesn't print at all, the same procedure has to be done for COLOR printing, set to color and print. For some reason It does not read automatic setting. Here is a more technical explanation provided by Lexmark that one of our viewers shared with us:
Another viewer was able to print the images by changing the print settings to "QuickPrint".
Be sure to set your margins to zero (or the minimum settings) before printing. With Internet Explorer - Choose FILE --> PAGE SETUP and change the margins in the lower left corner of the Page Setup Window. You may also want to remove your header and footer information at the same time. With Netscape Navigator - Choose FILE --> PAGE SETUP and change the margins in the middle of the Page Setup Window. You may also want to remove your header and footer information at the same time. WebTV users cannot print the custom cards. I have heard from a couple of WebTV users that they are unable to print the custom cards. I am unable to test it myself but will try to look into how to fix it. In the meantime, you may want to try our standard cards. SUGGESTIONS FOR PRINTING THE CUSTOM AWARDS Be sure to set your margins, printer orientation and header/footer information before printing. I found that the most appropriate margins for printing on standard letter sized paper were 0.6" (1.5 cm) all around. Since every printer is different you may have to adjust your margin settings to get the printed award to be centred nicely. To change your margins with Internet
Explorer - Choose FILE --> PAGE SETUP and change the margins
in the lower right corner of the Page Setup Window. You may also want to
remove your header and footer information at the same time. If you chose a landscape award you will have to be sure that your printer is set to print in landscape for the award to be printed correctly. To change the orientation with Internet Explorer - Choose FILE --> PAGE SETUP and change the
orientation (portrait or landscape) in the lower left corner of the Page Setup Window. You may also want to
remove your header and footer information at the same time.
